If you use as much sugar as they actually do in Korea, it adds texture as well as sweetness, you will have the soft crunch of undissolved sugar. It's very pleasant.
What would be a good substitute for ketchup? We don't have ketchup in my country. Would tomato sauce (in the condiment sense) be ok? I so want to try this!
Chef John, you are a very talented chef with a great sense of humor. I watch your cooking videos a lot and have made some of your recipes. They always turn out superb! I will be making this for sure in the next few days. Keep up the good food work lol! Much love from my husband's tummy and I .- The Wests from Washington state.
I saw the video of how they made this sandwich in Korea and yeah the sugar they put on is crazy. They put sugar the same way American put shredded cheese on their food. Mountainous.
My mom used to make it for me and my brother when we were little .. I didn’t know these were korean street toasts because we had immigrated to the states when my brother and I were still young and didn’t have the chance to eat them in Korea. I remember them being so delicious! Now I live in Korea by myself but it’s quite hard to find them here .. and my mom passed some time ago so thank you so much for the recipe! I will try them soon.
"I do not mess this up by using bread that has any kind of nutritional value" AND THIS IS WHY I SUBSCRIBED TO THIS CHANNEL!!!! LOVE IT!!!
I swear asian food culture has embrace catsup more than all the years of coca cola & fast food advertising has tried in the last 50 years.
Eh.. still has nothing on runny egg yoke and buttered toast soldiers.. 🤤
So cool you’re bringing this simple, but very tasty sandwich to the Food Wishes family!🥰😋
this is so wholesome. now i’m going to head out to issac toast(koreans know what i’m talking about!) and get me some bacon best toast
Looks good, I think I would just add majo and hoi sin sause, for the asian flavour, sorry to bother.
It's like an okonomiyaki sandwich with sugar.
