@Food52 could you put on screen the off script remarks like the potential ingredients for French onion strata? It'll be easier to screenshot them for us to try with those ingredients, just so we can have those true off script ideas
I was trying to think of doing Korean Strata. Using Kimchi scallion pancakes as the bread, and not sure about the custard but maybe sliced garlic, gochutgaru, peanuts, pickled onions…uhhh…dont think milk but maybe soy sauce and chicken stock instead. I dont know..just thinking about it. Also SO TRUE about jalapenos! The taste more and more of just water.
Sohla is the modern goddess of 'food TV.' Everything she makes seems easy and delicious and her personality speaks to everyone Gen-X and younger. I wish I could watch her all day every day — I'm one of those weirdos who puts on Julia Child or Two Fat Ladies or Maangchi videos in order to fall asleep happily at night. I cannot wait until Sohla has enough content under her belt to keep me dreaming peacefully in bed for 10 hours at a time… ❤ 🤍 🧡
For like 6 months straight I would bake bread rolls, scoop out the center and fill them with eggs and filling, and then with the remaining bread, I'd make strata. It was a really good 6 months.
bagel and lox strata. Toasty bagel, smoked fish towards the end, everything bagel seasoning, onions and capers….mmmm.. Then she said it at the end. we're in sync
Ick. Every holiday endless "strata" recipes….and guess what? nobody wants them. nobody likes strata. nobody thinks its delicious, or interesting….it's just one of those stupid cooking cliches that will not die.
We've been having a cheese and sausage strata every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas morning since the 80s. It's family tradition. Every now and then, I'll bring one to work.
We use a 9×13 glass dish. Butter both sides of white bread, crust on. Cover the whole bottom of the glass dish with the buttered bread. In a bowl, mix 6-8 eggs and about 1 cup of milk. Whisk and pour mixture over the bread in the dish. Then, it's just your toppings. We cook up some breakfast sausage and spread that on top. Then top with shredded cheddar. Bake at 350 for about 50 minutes. Enjoy!
What a fancy name for a thing I make when I have bread about to spoil! This might be the one time I was cool!!!
Been loving the green/bean/pasta "recipe". It's so easy and nourishing that it has become a regular go to meal.
That background music in the first segment makes me anxious.

Pineapple on pizza isn’t weird don’t let the pineapple haters say otherwise

Those both sound absolutely amazing. Strata was something I didn't know I needed in my life until today.
