An idea for the pumpkin seeds: You can save them to dry on the towels, pull them off, put them in a small paper bag or waxed paper, and if you have a park or a wooded area close by, put them out for the birds and squirrels to eat for winter. Your sweet little girl might like throwing the seeds to them if it's a park. 🙂
Roasting pumpkins – maybe I don’t want to… 🙇🏾♀️ Can I substitute (and I’m sure this question is anticipated..😋) a can of purée and still use the olive oil? Thanks so much — love this series!
Totally agree with your opinion about the seeds, way too much work for something that is MEH at best. Don’t get why sunflower seeds are such a popular snack item, either. What a distasteful looking mess the discarded husks leave behind.
Love this recipe, Kristen! Just wanted to say.. to make it much easier to cut through my winter squashes, I put the whole squash in the microwave for just one minute on high power and then I cut it in half. The knife goes through it much easier and it's not long enough to cook the squash. It's just a little warm which aids in the cutting.
Grater should make the nutmeg look like sawdust – it originally was designed and marketed as a wood rasp. Suggest cooling the cake on a rack – would possibly have prevented the care from splitting when you took it out of the pan. Love the show – especially the wee assistant.
Thanks again for you and your family sharing a bit of your lives with us. It is wonderful to see you allowing your daughter to "help" you share the recipes. Brilliant!
I laughed with you Kristen when you said it might fall apart but I didn't laugh when it happened. Who hasn't done this? I can't wait to try this recipe!
who else loves pumpkin bread 😍
Why do you make a well in the flour mix before putting in the pumpkin mix?

Kristen dunking on the seeds echoes my feelings exactly. I FEEL SEEN. Food52 and Kristen, you're fabulous.
Would this work with acorn squash?
We always dried pumpkin seeds in front of the radiator. They never burned and still tasted nice.

Both informative and ADORABLE!!! Who can't relate!! I loved this video!!!! 🙂 🙂
I realized that cakes that use oil instead of butter taste better on the next day! This seems to be a great example
